Article on effective communication and useful abbreviations

You may also come across some of the following abbreviations in E-mail messages, particularly in Internet newsgroups. Be aware that not everyone understands their meanings. In a Dilbert newsletter I received, Scott Adams told of a co-worker who thought Adams was angry whenever he used “FYI.”

The stupidest thing I ever heard of was when someone said "LOL" in a face to face conversation instead of just actually laughing out loud.
