Effective Communication:
Is E-mail Better Than The Telephone?
Within
many organizations, E-mail quickly became an effective communication tool as
people adopted the technology and learned that it could replace other means of
communication.
Compared
to voice mail, E-mail messages can be listed, sorted and even previewed.
The recipient can get an idea of the topic and importance of each message without
having to read each one.
Many people
are visual learners. They understand better by seeing things on paper than
by trying to put together a mental picture as they listen to your message. Furthermore,
using voice mail, the sender often makes up the message as they go along. Using E-
mail, it is easier to compose your thoughts and make sure you cover what is necessary.
E- mail allows the recipient to quickly identify the important points in a well- composed
message.
By including
your E-mail address on your business card you allow people to
communicate with you using the medium of their choice.
