Effective Communication: Can you trust E-mail to Get There?
Unfortunately, E-mail is not like Fedex. Yes, many systems provide delivery notification, and your company’s system might provide an audit trail, but across the global Internet E- mail correspondence is treated on a “best attempt to deliver” basis. There is no guarantee that your message will arrive. E-mail is forwarded along the network from one location to another, until it eventually gets where it is going. If you need guaranteed secure service you need a private network. Effective communication is not always a people problem.
